No, It’s Not The Love Boat

I have to be frank. I’m stunned at the reaction of evacuees, at least according to the media, arriving in Cyprus. I have not heard this much bitching and moaning since I dumped my ex-girlfriend. People, this wasn’t a pleasure cruise. There seems to be a massive disconnect with the Canadian citizens that are being rescued and reality. I’ll say it again, this wasn’t a pleasure cruise. This was a hastily conceived rescue mission to SAVE people from bombs and bullets. I heard one woman on CBC radio saying that she would rather have stayed in Lebanon. Fine, put her ungrateful butt on the next ship heading back to Beirut. It’s bizarre that these folks, who admittedly are distressed, are bitching about creature comforts on the ship taking them out of the path of death and destruction.

I hope that everyone will smarten up and put down their guns and start talking. I know this is pretty much a pipe dream but, cripes c’mon. The only innocents in this conflict are the civilians caught in the middle.

This foolishness has to stop. Yes, the shooting has to stop as well.

I have noticed a decided shift in the reporting now on the evacuation. I agree there were a lot of disaffected people but, now that anger seems to be turning to one of relief.
